Amit Mehta, M.D.

mehtaAmit Mehta, MD, one of the founders of Premier Pain & Spine, is a Double Board Certified Anesthesiologist and a Fellowship Trained Interventional Pain Management Physician. He and his partners are the Directors of the Pain Management Centers at MacNeal Hospital along with the pain center at Westlake/West Suburban Hospital.

 

Dr. Mehta has been involved with a multitude of research projects and lecture presentations. He has written multiple publications on Fragile X Syndrome, and researched concepts of synaptic plasticity. He has studied the effects of depression on pain symptoms, and has been actively involved in the healthcare crisis nationwide.

 

He has recently written a chapter on neuromodulation in the textbook Cancer Rehabilitation, and has presented his research on a national and international level. He has talked internationally on the effects of Ketamine on CRPS, and does speak locally on a variety of pain management topics.

 

Dr. Mehta has a variety of interests and is trained in treating all types of pain symptoms. His particular interests include spinal cord stimulation, CRPS pain, cancer pain, rhizotomy, and chronic back and neck arthritic pain. He feels that communication, multi-modal therapy, and treating each patient with an individual plan of attack is vital in one’s rehabilitation.DK1_5839-e1385090727531

 

Dr. Mehta is an active member of American Medical Association, American Society of Anesthesiology, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, American Pain Society, as well as ASIPP.

 

As one of the co-founders of Premier Pain & Spine, Dr. Amit Mehta’s mission coincides with that of the other physicians and staff in his group. He hopes to provide compassionate, innovative, and comprehensive care by integrating different modalities of pain-reducing therapies so his patients can live a more normal, enjoyable, and productive life.

 

Dr. Mehta is interested in cutting edge non-surgical options for knee, shoulder, hip, back, and joint pain. This includes newer regenerative medicine techniques, including PRP, BMAC, and stem cell injections to improve functionality, decrease pain, and decrease the need for surgery. In addition, he treats PTSD, chronic pain,  and depression with ketamine infusion therapy which is a newer non invasive treatment modality.

 

Dr. Mehta is currently enrolled in Auburn University’s Physicians Executive MBA program to help further his education in this changing healthcare landscape.
